Introducing our new Marketing Person

Sara Segerlin joined the MONA staff as our first marketing person.

Sara comes from Rochester, New York where she completed her Master of Fine Arts in Media Studies  at the Visual Studies Workshop, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Journalism from Lock Haven University of PA. Her concentration emphasizes on photography, video art and multimedia archival collection. In the last two years,  she spent much of her time traveling across the country with the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker as their lead photographer and marketing person.  She quickly learned the strengths of doing digital work on the fly while working and living with 40 Russian dancers  and covering about 62 small-cities in a time-span of 7-weeks.  After the ballet, she joined a Toronto-based video company representing their media brand for national dance competitions similar to show’s like “So You Think You Can Dance.”  In this position, she was the spokesperson for the company’s marketing campaign on dance videos, and led the supervision of the video/photo crew during stage performances.  In 2007, she spent six months living in Auckland, New Zealand  where she completed an apprenticeship with the Media & Interdisciplinary Art Center of New Zealand as interim Video Coordinator on cross-disciplinary art events that collided and connected emerging artists to the public in forms of multimedia, live performance,  and kinetic art installations.  In NZ she got to see one of her favorite kinetic artists Len Lye.

Sara is thrilled to be learning about Neon Art in Los Angeles and she hopes to continue the museum’s mission in connecting the public to art in electric illuminated form!
